Either the quality of service is going downhill or it has been inconsistent pretty much all the time. I have been using Carlton Cleaners since my relocation to Toronto earlier this year and for the first 4 months or so, I was very satisfied with them. However, the last two times my husband picked up clothes from them were a complete disaster. First, they have not removed sweat stains and colour transfer from a plain cotton shirt (with some silk elements on it which made me use dry cleaning instead of washing). As the item was returned in sub-optimal condition anyway, I decided to try and wash it - and the stains went off completely. Why on Earth could the dry cleaners do nothing with it then? The second time was even worse: one of the silk blouses was returned with all stains untouched on it, the second one still had sweat odour which never remains after a proper dry cleaning (including those times I was completely satisfied with Carlton), and the third one (a cotton shirt) was not even steamed properly - as it had no particularly visible stains on it, to begin with, I'm not sure if the personnel has done anything at all in principle. The bottomline: I knew various issues with dry cleaning in Toronto are not uncommon, but Carlton Cleaners are not an exception, unfortunately.

Excellent family-owned dry cleaning business. Loyal clientele in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood have patronised this place for over 30 years - I have used it now for more than 25 years - including one change in ownership. Friendly, reliable and convenient.

I've tried to come here twice now, as they're the closest to my house. They don't do any quick turnaround dry cleaning, so the first time I tried to come here I left and went to Parliament Cleaners down the street who could get my suit done the next day. Fair enough, my lack of planning ahead shouldn't be their problem. I tried again to go again on Friday May 26 to get two small curtain panels hemmed, and was told it would be a week and $40-$50/panel to hem them and would take more than a week. I bought them for $34 on amazon and are only 50" wide so this wasn't an option for me really. I went to Parliament cleaners again and they told me it would be $9/panel so $18 total and would be ready by Tuesday. Employees working there have always been very nice though! So there is that!

Very good cleaning, lovely staff and well done alterations. We are sensitive to some of the harsher dry cleaning chemicals so we appreciate the less toxic options used here. Clothing smells fresh vs like chemicalsIn many years, have never had an issue or lost item.Pricing is very competitive and fair especially for the quality, I don't understand the complaint about prices for alterations. Pay a decent price for someone's labour and the work done vs "nickel and diming" a small business.
